Meaningful volunteer opportunities are an often overlooked part of a company’s purpose and employee development. Too often, organizations try to establish employee volunteer programs as a sort of add on in their spare time. But there is another way to think about volunteering and the time has never been better to reimagine this part of corporate life since businesses are actively and publicly expanding their role in society. This new approach to volunteering involves identifying a nonprofit where your employees can lend their skills and expertise over a designated period of time or on a series of connected events. No matter your industry, your employee’s skills are valuable and in need at nonprofits. For some nonprofits, access to your talent and their skills can be just as — or more important — than dollars.

Read this short read from Beth Bengtson and learn more about it.

Social impact leaders have tremendous responsibilities: they are responsible for keeping their organization strong, they are empowered with decision-making that will impact their organization’s work long into the future, and they are entrusted with ensuring that their organization puts its core purpose and those who depend on it first.

It is easy for social impact leaders to be singularly focused on their own success or survival, and lose sight of how their work fits into the bigger picture.

However, it is never a bad time to consider the possibility of strategic alliances and restructuring, but some moments create more natural opportunities to do so than others.

Read the Exploring Greater Impact Through Strategic Partnerships guide by The Power of Possibility to reflect on where your organization is, where it is headed, and how a strategic alliance or restructuring could help you get there.
